FLAG SALUTE
The flag salute was led by Mayor Jose Trevino

CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Trevino called the meeting of June 12, 2018 to order at 7:00 p.m.

COUNCIL AND ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNEL PRESENT

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Valdemero and Valdemar Valenzuela, Lions Club Representatives presented the City with donation checks, thanking the departments for the help they gave suring the Granger Cherry Festival. Checks were given to the Fire Department, the Police Department, Parks and Rec Program and a donation for the movie night.  They also said that they had a very good turnout at this year’s Cherry Festival, had a new carnival vendor at the park, lots of good comments on the change.  They said that the Cherry Festival in 2019 will be pushed back to the original date in May and they plan on having the new carnival back.

MINUTES
It was moved by Councilwoman Gonzalez to accept the minutes as presented. Motion seconded by Councilwoman Sharp.

NEW BUSINESS
Ordinance 1311
It was moved by Councilwoman Sharp to adopt Ordinance 1311, an Ordinance of the City of Granger, adopting optional alternative process for hearing and reporting on certain land use application. Motion was seconded by Councilwoman Villarreal.
MOTION CARRIED: 3-0

Professional Services
It was moved by Councilwoman Sharp to enter into the Professional services Agreement with Gary Cuillier, Attorney at Law for his services as a Hearing Examiner. Motion was seconded Councilwoman Gonzales.
MOTION CARRIED: 3-0

Fireworks Display
This items was tabled, until Alpha Pyrotechnics bring their contract.

PW-Request for Garbage Cans
It was moved by Councilwoman Sharp to allow the expenditure of $5,000 to purchase new garbage cans and replacement wheels for cans. Motion was seconded by Council Villarreal.
MOTION CARRIED: 3-0

PD – Request for SECTOR equipment
It was moved by Councilwoman Sharp to allow the expenditure of $1,866.27 for the car printers and barcode scanners. Motion was seconded by Councilwoman Villarreal
MOTION CARRIED: 3-0

PD-Request for equipment
It was moved by Councilwoman Sharp to allow the expenditure of $4,033 for police equipment, which will be paid with the grant received from Legends Casino. Motion was seconded by Councilwoman Gonzalez.
MOTION CARRIED: 3-0

PD-Vehicle Replacement
It was moved by Councilwoman Gonzalez to approve the expenditure of $8,000 for the 2010 Dodge Charger. Motion was seconded by Councilwoman Gonzalez.
MOTION CARRIED: 3-0

Probation Services
It was moved by Councilwoman Sharp to accept the Probation Service Agreement with the County of Yakima, a Washington State Political subdivision and it’s District Court. Motion was seconded by Councilwoman Villarreal
MOTION CARRIED: 3-0

Appoint Delegates
Councilwoman Villarreal nominated Mayor Trevino, Councilwoman Sharp and Councilwoman Gonzalez as the voting delegates for the City of Granger for the 2018 AWC Conference. Motion was seconded by Councilwoman Sharp.
MOTION CARRIED: 3-0

BILLS
It was moved by Councilwoman Gonzalez to pay the bills of June 12, 2018 in the amount of $55,375.49. Motion was seconded by Councilwoman Sharp.

Introduction
Chief Schuster introduced Officer Juan Carlos Ceja the latest addition to the Police Department. He asked Officer Ceja to give a brief background of career.  Officer Ceja said that he worked as an officer for 16 years, 10 years with the Tieton Police Department and 6 years with the City of Toppenish Police Dept.  He stated that he was very much involved with the youth in Toppenish by starting the Explorer Program, having 30 young people.  He also said he was excited to start working with the youth in our community.

ADJOURN It was moved by Councilwoman Sharp to adjourn the meeting. Motion was seconded by Councilwoman Villarreal. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
