Community BBQ Provide by Granger High School AVID- October 28, 2017
Granger High School AVID (Achievement Via Individual Determination) students are hosting a community BBQ on October 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hisey Park (a.k.a. Dinosaur Park). There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, beverages, and hot chocolate and pan dulce for dessert. Along with the BBQ there will be a mural painting event to reduce the amount of graffiti and promote pride and respect within the community. The mural will be in front of the new Neighborhood Health building. In addition, there will be an art activity that children will have the opportunity to participate in. They will dip their thumb in paint and place it on a canvas that will create a tree. Per the mayor’s approval, the art piece will be displayed at City Hall. The purpose of this event is to honor and recognize the community members of Granger and to provide an inclusive and positive event that promotes unity, togetherness and the unique and great qualities of Granger. Students have written and submitted letters requesting donations from local businesses in Granger and the Lower Valley.
